He said:
Today we arrived at our last new destination; Kinghorn.
We caught a train in Edinburgh, and walked from the Kinghorn station down the path to our flat overlooking the Firth of Fourth. A beautiful view today since the sun was shining. The good weather may not hold, but we are planning on relaxing more than we have been.
She Said:
Yesterday, we said a sad farewell to Sark, our favorite place in the Channel Islands.
We landed in Edinburgh, and taxied to our hotel for the night, The Scotsman.
The Scotsman is in the repurposed building that was once the home of the The Scotsman Newspaper, starting in 1905.
It is a beautiful baroque building, all marble floors and grand staircases and wood-paneled walls.
Our room was once the Editor’s Office.
There is a period printing press on one of the landings - quite ornate and interesting.
Finally, a relaxing train ride out to Kinghorn, our stay for the next week.
We are living in Providence House, a delightful flat/cottage owned by Nick and Julie and now ours as the result of a charity auction win.
We met N’s mum today and she gave us a bit of the house’s history:
As did many churches, the church in Kinghorn, way back when, owned this cottage and the 4 surrounding and used them to house the poor of the parish.
Eventually, they were all sold off.
N and J were fortunate enough to buy Providence House, situated right on the Firth of Firth.
Out views from our windows and front step are spectacular - sand and beach and water and the gorgeous green scenery on the other side of the Firth.
Kinghorn is a tiny town, but it has a small grocer and a butcher and a bakery, so we shopped for supplies today and are ready for our week.
Let the relaxing begin!
